how do I start my jet ski after winter when there is still fuel from last summer?

Dump the gas out of the tank, let it dry out. Pull the plugs, start the engine and let the pistons pump up & down a few times, not long. Insert new plugs. Make sure your wire caps are clean on the inside, no carbon build up. Clean your battery posts and cables, charge the battery. Put fresh gas in the tank, mixed with oil if that is your set-up. If you have a primer, pump it a few extra times to fill the line before it can dump gas into the carburetor. Make sure your engine head is tightened properly and all clamps, fuel lines, water lines are clear and secure. Check your fuel filter for anything that may clog it, better yet, change it if you are not sure. Fire your ski at waters edge. If there is an air leak and you get an engine run on taking off with it in an area where there will be little or no chance of an accident is smart and will save an engine blowout. That should not happen, but safe is always smart. If you do not have a primer, use starting fluid, short shots into the carb, start and feather the throttle. Adjust your idle as needed.
